1.2 Subject

We intend to mix both formulation for studying a more realistic case where damage and fracture can happen at the same time.

Studying damage on a material, given a crack set, is feasible with the program developed by G. ALLAIRE, S. AUBRY and F. JOUVE, while the fracture formulation allows many kinds of elastic behaviors, including those computed by the former model.

The resolution process we intend to build would be made of alternate resolution of damage on a cracked set and fracture on a damaged set, until convergence.

The first step is to finish the implementation of the brittle fracture model, for bi-dimensional or tri-dimensional problems. In a second time, we wish to adapt both programs so as to work together and communicate results.
