List of projects for the research session.

Each project is designed for one or two young researchers supervised by two experienced people (at least). You can find below a brief summary (.png) for each project by clicking on its short name

AERONANO -- Modelling and numerical simulations of nanometric aerosols in the lower part of the bronchial tree

Objective: couple the air flow in lung with the deposition of therapeutic aerosols beyond the 8th generation of the bronchial tree. Numerical simulations of full air-aerosols models using Freefem++.

BACTERIA -- Modelling of active suspensions

Objective: model collective phenomena occuring in (possibly dense) suspensions of bacteria by means of direct numerical simulations.

MOTILITY -- Cell motility: towards visco-elasto-plastic features

Objective: theoretical and numerical analysis of mathematical models for the actin network, from a microscopic to a macroscopic description.

OXYGEN -- Oxygen diffusion during human breathing

Objective: couple oxygen diffusion/adsorption in the blood with air flow in lung. Design optimal strategies for breathing.

PRION -- Biophysical modelling of Prion self-replication processes

Objective: optimization of amplification protocols (PMCA) based on biophysical description of Prionic aggregation mechanisms.

RUGOSITY -- Asymptotic modelling and numerical simulations of blood flows in arteries with wired multi-layer stents

Objective: mathematical modelling of multi-layered stents inserted in the human cardio-vascular network. Investigation of realistic 3D geometries.

SISYPHE -- Hormonal control of coupled and structured cell population dynamics

Objective: extension of a multiscale model for the selection of ovarian follicles basing on structured cell population dynamics. Discrete and probabilistic approach versus continuous approximation.

SUTURES -- Modelling the evolution of sutures in the cranial vault

Objective: develop a model and design suitable numerical schemes for the development of craniofacial sutures (following both biochemical and biomechanical descriptions).
