The objective of the conference is to bridge the gap between conceptual (abstract) and computational  (constructive) mathematics by providing a computational understanding of abstract mathematics. We are not only interested in correct algorithms however, but also in the mathematical clarity that these concrete presentations provide. In formal proof management systems like Coq there is an increasing interest to exploit certificates found by numerical solvers (e.g., sums of squares certificates for positivity found by semidefinite programming solvers). The theory behind these certificates will be one of the highlights of this 2012 edition of MAP. Bonnans) Les journées SMAI-MODE 2012 à Dijon se sont achevées le 30 mars 2012 par la remise du prix Dodu, patronné par EDF R&D. Ce prix honore la mémoire de Jean-Claude Dodu, qui a effectué au cours de sa carrière de chercheur chez EDF de nombreuses contributions aux méthodes numériques en optimisation. Le prix récompense les meilleurs exposés de jeunes lors des journées SMAI-MODE. Le jury, constitué cette année de Frédéric Bonnans, Jean-Noël Corvellec, Guillaume Carlier, Thierry Champion et Filippo Santambrogio, a décidé de récompenser trois exposés particulièrement marquants: - Nicolas Bonnotte (U. Paris-Sud): "Reconstruction de l’application de Brenier à partir du réarrangement de Knothe" - Daniela Tonon (U. Paris 6): "Régularité SBV pour les équations de Hamilton-Jacobi" - Xavier Venel (U. Carlier) Du 19 au 22 juin 2012 se triendra, au laboratoire de mathématiques de l'Université Paris-Sud (Orsay), une conférence dédiée au transport optimal et à ses applications. De nombreux chercheurs de renommée mondiale viendront s'y exprimer. Elle sera précédée, du 18 au 19, par des mini-cours, destinés plus particulièrement aux étudiants (master, doctorants) et aux jeunes chercheurs. La théorie du transport optimal a connu un formidable essor ces deux dernières décennies et s'est avérée un domaine extrêmement fécond dans des branches des mathematiques aussi variées que la théorie des équations aux dérivées partielles, les inégalités fonctionnelles, la géometrie, les probabilités. La puissance de cette théorie a egalement irrigue nombre de domaines appliqués comme la mécanique des fluides, l'économie ou encore le traitement d'images. L'objectif de cette conférence est de réunir des spécialistes reconnus en favorisant les intéractions entre théorie, applications, modélisation et résolution numérique. Le colloque va couvrir en particulier quatre thématiques : la théorie générale du transport, l'existence, la régularité, ses liens avec la géometrie, le tout en relation avec les nécessités provenant de la modélisation ; les équations d'évolution qu'on peut étudier par le transport optimal, sa formulation dynamique, et les flots de gradient ; les applications champ moyens ; les méthodes numériques pour le transport optimal et les applications de ces méthodes. Cette conférence est ouvert au plus grand nombre, notamment aux collègues de la region parisienne, aux doctorants et jeunes chercheurs désireux d'en savoir plus sur ce domaine en pleine expansion, ainsi que tous les chercheurs déjà investis dans ce domaine de recherche.
