Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to participate in the
"XV Spanish-French School on Numerical Simulation
in Physics and Engineering"
to be held in Torremolinos, Málaga (Spain) on September
24-28, 2012.
These schools, promoted by the Sociedad Española de
Matemática Aplicada (SEMA) and the Société de Mathématiques
Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), are aimed at master
students, PhD students, recent PhD doctorates, and
researchers in general willing to update their knowledge
with recent developments on numerical techniques that play
an important role in the international scene. As this type
of techniques are useful in the mathematical modeling of
many phenomena, researchers coming from different fields
(mathematics, physics, engineering, biology, economics, etc)
can be interested.
The core of the school, whose official language is English,
will be composed by four 4-hour courses:
? Begoña Calvo Calzada. Universidad de
Zaragoza
Fundamental aspects in modelling soft tissues
behaviour
? Emmanuel Gobet. École Polytechnique,
París
Introduction to stochastic calculus and to the
resolution of PDEs using Monte Carlo simulations
? Enrique D. Fernández Nieto. Universidad
de Sevilla
Some remarks on avalanches modelling
? Philippe G. LeFloch. Université Pierre
et Marie Curie & CNRS
New trends in shock-capturing schemes.
Geometric effects, controled dissipation, and
late-time asymptotics
The courses will be complemented with the following 1-hour
talks:
? Carlos Castro Barbero. Universidad
Politécnica de Madrid
Numerical approximation of optimal
design problems in aerodynamics. From the mathematical
analysis to industrial codes
? Michel Langlais. Université Bordeaux 2
A further multiscale problem:
spatio-temporal spread of an airborne plant pathogen
through a highly anthropized and spatially structured
crop system
? Fabien Mangeant. EADS
Statistical learning and reduced model
techniques for uncertainty management in computer
experiments
? Emanuele Schiavi. Universidad Rey Juan
Carlos
Medical image processing: mathematical
modelling and numerical resolution
? Denis Talay. INRIA Sophia Antipolis
On probabilistic approaches of partial
differential equations involving a divergence form
operator with discontinuous coefficients
To encourage the active participation of attendees,
especially from young researchers, there will be a poster
session. Interested participants are invited to submit
abstracts for the poster session. A number of grants for
students will be available.
All the information about abstract submission, registration,
important dates, and application for grants can be found on
the web site:
Best regards,
The organizing committee.
