Les cafés Julia reprennent pour la période 2025-2026. Pour ce premier rendez-vous, c’est Olivier Cots de l’INP Toulouse qui va nous présenter “control-toolbox” le 20 Novembre 2025 à 10h, une collaboration avec Jean-Baptiste Caillau, Joseph Gergaud, Pierre Martinon et Sophia Sed.
Le projet control-toolbox rassemble plusieurs packages Julia pour modéliser et résoudre des problèmes de contrôle optimal. Autour du package central OptimalControl.jl, il propose une architecture modulaire, performante et adaptée au calcul CPU et GPU, permettant de connecter formulation mathématique, simulation et optimisation avancée. Je présenterai les principaux développements récents, l’organisation de l’écosystème et quelques exemples d’applications, avec un accent sur les choix de conception et de bonnes pratiques de développement.

We are pleased to announce the IX Latin American Workshop on Optimization and Control (LAWOC 2026), which will take place from July 27 to 31, 2026, at the School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp-FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Latin American Workshop on Optimization and Control (LAWOC) is organized on a biennial basis with the main goal of boosting the development and interaction between these two scientific disciplines in Latin America and other countries of the world, by gathering together outstanding senior and junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working in these fields.
The first edition of this event was held in Quito, Ecuador, in July 2008, based on an initiative of researchers working at the Escuela Politécnica Nacional de Ecuador and the Universidad Nacional de Rosario. The second edition was held in 2010 in Rosario, Argentina, with the same organizers. Subsequently, a third edition took place in 2012 in Valparaíso, Chile; the fourth edition in 2014 in Lima, Peru; a fifth edition was held in 2016 in Tandil, Argentina; the sixth edition in 2018 in Quito, Ecuador; the seventh edition in 2023 in Rancagua, Chile and the past one, in 2024 in Córdoba, Argentina. The 2026 edition will be the first one in Brazil.
An additional goal of the workshop is to increase the visibility of Optimization and Control among advanced undergraduate students (in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, and others), as well as within the different companies and institutions of the society.

Du 18 au 20 mars 2026, l’Université Côte d’Azur accueille les journées SMAI-MODE, la conférence biennale du groupe MODE de la Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI).
Vous pouvez soumettre vos contributions du 13 octobre au 15 décembre 2025 sur le site de la conférence. L’organisation de sessions spéciales est possible. Il vous suffit de contacter les organisateurs.

The ERC project “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the JKO Scheme” (EYAWKAJKOS) is opening a new post-doc call, for a contract with a duration of two to three years, starting between March and December 2026. The project concerns gradient flows in the Wasserstein space and their time discretization, the JKO scheme.

This is part of a larger project on mutualisation in logistics, where the use of decision-focused learning methods will require very efficient optimization subroutines.
